Though poor Clacker and svirfneblin Belwar Dissengulp make fun and unique adventuring party companions. Guenhwyvar is an astral panther and can only be so deep, while Zaknafein was an interesting ally (and foe) to Drizzt’s moral dilemma. It was later reissued as book four of the Legend of Drizzt series. Overall I found the support characters interesting but shallow. The Crystal Shard is the first book in the Icewind Dale trilogy by R.A. I couldn’t help but feel his character was overrated (as well as the writing of Salvatore), though the fight scenes are indeed done really well good fights do not make a book or a whole series. While the third book is interesting it’s really just running from his past over and over and is largely boring though the events do build Drizzt as a character. Drizzt doesn’t become that likable until he becomes easier to connect what emotionally which happens more in the second book. Though I found drow society interesting it was a bit tiring after awhile. Enter Drizzt Do'Urden who is anything but. To my mind he is more an atypical drow rather than the pure force for good he ends up being in later series.Īnd if you want my really harsh recommendation, speaking as someone who read up to the Hunter's Blade trilogy, read the Icewind Dale Trilogy and stop there.Drow are worshipers of the the Queen of the Demonweb Pits, Lolth (Lloth) and are generally inherently evil. My actual recommendation is to read them in publication order (swap the first two series) as Drizzt changes significantly between the first series and later ones. The Way of the Drow (Starlight Enclave, Glacier's Edge).Generations (Timeless, Boundless, Relentless). The Companions Codex series (Night of the Hunter, Rise of the King, Vengeance of the Iron Dwarf). The Neverwinter series (Gauntlgrym, Neverwinter, Charon's Claw, The Last Threshold).Salvatore that began in 1988, and consists of 38 books as of August 9, 2022. The Transitions trilogy (The Orc King, The Pirate King, The Ghost King) The Legend of Drizzt is a series of fantasy novels by R.The Hunter's Blade trilogy (The Thousand Orcs, The Lone Drow, The Two Swords). The Paths of Darkness series (The Silent Blade, The Spine of the World, Servant of the Shard*, Sea of Swords).

The Legacy of the Drow series (The Legacy, Starless Night, Siege of Darkness, Passage to Dawn).Dark Mirror, a short story in the Realms of Valor anthology. The Icewind Dale Trilogy (The Crystal Shard, Streams of Silver, The Halfling's Gem). The Dark Elf Trilogy (Homeland, Exile, Sojourn).
